The day started with breakfast included at the motel so after taking away enough for lunch it was off to Cannery Row where we decided to bypass the high season queues for the aquarium and head straight for the beach in Carmel.

We decided if we had more time we definitely would have stayed longer in Carmel, it is just picture perfect and we each had no problem choosing a new home!

We took a scenic route back to the PCH passing endless dreamy properties and the Carmel Mission.

Our first stop out of Carmel was Rocky Creek bridge and then the breathtaking Bixby bridge, heading further South through Big Sur, looking for a good picnic spot.

We found it at Rugged Point, Million Dollar View at the furthest south point of Big Sur.

Next was seal watching and stopping soon after at Hearst's Castle. We decided not to go in and admired from a far. For anyone who has been, did we miss much?

After a final detour through the super quaint Cambria, we arrived at the lovely Sundown Inn motel in Morro bay which I would highly recommend.

Accommodation is cheaper here than in nearby Cambria and Pismo Beach and if you ignore the really ugly power station it is a lovely town and so are the people.

A 5 minute walk from the motel is the waterfront with an abundance of cute shops and restaurants.

We ended up in Hofbrau for seafood combos and German beer while the sunset, followed by a leisurely walk to the rock.

Which place do you guys think is the best to eat in Morro Bay? Hofbrau was definitely cheap and cheerful and brought back memories of time spent in Germany.
