Mother's Day this year was as lovely as ever with my sister coming down for the week.

She was heading back up to Fife on Saturday afternoon so we celebrated a day early starting off with bacon and blueberry pancakes with fresh orange juice and organic coffee.

The Trout hotel is one of our favourite places to eat in Cockermouth so we arrived at The Terrace Bar early as you can't book and settled in to our cosy table. They have an extensive menu with something for everyone so we started with a white wine spritzer to help us decide. 

I went for the crab claw meat open sandwich, mom chose the avocado pear, pinks dry cured bacon and Thornby Moor Blue Whinnow Cheese wrap and Sarah picked the Fruits de Mer starter which is plenty big enough for a main at lunch.

We finished off our lovely lunch with Assam tea and final chats before Sarah headed off home.
